My New iPad

From start to finish, this "exchange" process took exactly 1 week and that is with a statutory holiday thrown in there for good measure. I must say that I am VERY impressed with Apple.

It took about 30 minutes to get the new iPad synced and running. I now have all of my music and my books back for our cruise.

I also managed to fix my computer all by myself yesterday. The last time that I tried to sync my first iPad, somehow 2 of my audio books "disappeared" from iTunes. No problem, I thought - I'll just "rip" the CD's again. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that, according to my computer, I no longer had a CD/DVD player/burner on my computer. Now, the place where you insert the discs is still there, so where on earth did the driver go? For a week I've been trying to find my CD/DVD player to no avail until yesterday when I finally found the correct solution and.......voila......I have a CD/DVD player/ burner again. My 2 audio books are back in my iTunes library and have been synced to my new iPad. All is well and life is grand.

For good measure - Happy Birthday Austin - I can't believe that my grandson turned 5 yesterday - where does the time go?????

The iPad Saga

So, I talked to the Apple lady (in the US) at about 8:00 last night. She told me that it would take about 2 days for the box that I am to use to ship my iPad back to arrive. Imagine my surprise when I arrived home tonight to find the box on my front porch!!!!

My iPad is packed up and ready to be picked up by UPS. Let's see how fast the new one gets here.

My iPad

I received the absolute BEST gift for Christmas this year. Exactly what I asked for - an iPad. I have been having a blast with this amazing tablet with 1 notable exception - syncing it. For those of you who do not have iPods, iPhones or iPads, syncing is the process where all of the new information - songs, photos, books, apps, calendars....... get transferred from your computer to your electronic device. At. 16 GB my device holds a lot of information!!

My issue is that more times than not, my iPad will not sync and forces me to either "restore" to a previous point or to treat it like a new iPad and start all over.

Last night I had finally had enough!!! and I called Apple support. (A great experience by the way - very friendly and very helpful). Unfortunately, it didn't take long for them to determine what the problem is - I have a lemon!!!!!!!!!!! And the "lemon" has to go back to Apple. Thankfully, I did this now and should have my new iPad before we head south (5 weeks, but who's counting). Apple makes it very easy to return the iPad - they send you the box and packing materials. Once they have the old iPad, the new one is on it's way. My issue is this - this thing is addictive!! What am I going to do without it for a week to 10 days?????????

Here We Go Again

It is Saturday morning at 9:30. I should be sitting here with my cup of tea waiting for "Mr. Lazybones" to drag himself out of bed. Instead, here i am, and there he is - somewhere between New York state and home.

For a while, we weren't sure that he would get home at all this week-end - he wasn't able to get to his pick-up in Pennsylvania from New Jersey until after 6:00 last night (Friday night - when everyone wants to be at home for the weekend). Thankfully, a very kind gentleman came in especially just to load Graham - he even helped him tie down and tarp his load. Unfortunately, by 11:00 last night, Graham had to pull over and sleep. He was somewhere around Corning, New York at the time and thought that he'd sleep for about 5 hours. I know my sweetie better than that - for him to go with just 5 hours of sleep, he has to be working on a deadline. Obviously, getting home does not constitute a deadline, soooooooooo.............................. here I sit, not sure when he will manage to walk through the door. If he's not home by noon, it mean that I will have to go out and do the grocery shopping by myself - another stressor for my failing back.

I've said it before and now I'll say it again -- I HATE TRUCKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I especially hate this company that he works for because he is ALWAYS late getting home. The last two weeks it has been 5:00 am on Saturday morning, but, at least he was home!

It's a Small World

As you all know, we are going on a cruise in 45 days, 6 hours and 25 minutes (but who's counting).

Yesterday, I was talking to one of our hospital Case Managers and she happened to mention that she was going on vacation in a few weeks. Always curious to know what others do on their vacations, I asked about hers. They are going on their very first cruise. Always eager to share our enthusiasm for cruising, I told her what a great time they were going to have and asked where they were cruising to. The answer - the Southern Caribbean; what ports were they going to be stopping in - Curacao, Aruba, Barbados.....

At this point light bulbs were flashing all over the place and I asked Cathy when they were leaving. Surprise!!!!!!!!! Monday, March 28. We are taking the same cruise.

Graham and I have always cruised by ourselves - not necessarily by choice, so, we are really excited that there will be "friends" sailing with us this time. It will make for a different cruise experience.
